COP29 Gears Up: Azerbaijan and WindEurope Host Key Event in Brussels

Ahead of the critical COP29 climate conference, Azerbaijan, which holds the presidency this year, is joining forces with WindEurope to host a major event in Brussels. This event brings together key stakeholders to discuss the path towards a greener future.

The gathering will feature high-level representatives from the European Commission, Azerbaijani officials, and experts from the wind and hydrogen industries, NGOs, and think tanks. Discussions will focus on crucial topics like the transition to clean energy, building climate resilience, and fostering innovation in green technologies.

Networking Opportunity for Climate Action

This Brussels event offers a valuable opportunity for policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society to connect ahead of COP29, which takes place in Baku, Azerbaijan, this November. Attendees include senior officials from the European Commission and over 70 diplomats representing embassies and missions to the EU.

The event will feature prominent speakers, including Elnur Soltanov, Deputy Energy Minister of Azerbaijan and CEO of COP29, alongside key figures from the EU Commission and industry leaders like Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, CEO of Hydrogen Europe, and Giles Dickson, CEO of WindEurope.

Dickson, CEO of WindEurope, emphasized the significance of the event: “We are proud to co-host this event with Azerbaijan. Their commitment to reaching 30% renewable energy capacity by 2030 and exporting wind power to Europe via the Caspian-EU Green Energy Corridor is a positive step. This event allows them to showcase their clean energy efforts and discuss their plans as COP29 Presidency.”
