Ecomondo’s International Roadshow: Forging Connections for a Sustainable Future

As the highly anticipated Ecomondo 2025 edition approaches, scheduled to take place from November 4th to 7th at the Rimini Expo Centre in Italy, the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) is embarking on an impactful international roadshow. This strategic initiative involves three pivotal stops in Egypt, Serbia, and Poland, designed to lay the groundwork for a successful main event by anticipating key content, showcasing innovative technologies, and fostering crucial collaboration opportunities within the burgeoning sectors of the ecological transition. This pre-event tour aims to strengthen the dialogue between Italian companies and foreign markets, further solidifying Ecomondo’s reputation as the premier reference hub for the green, blue, and circular economy across the Mediterranean and European basins. These international engagements will provide invaluable opportunities to connect with high-profile operators and buyers from the participating countries, setting the stage for productive exchanges at the upcoming Rimini exhibition.

Three Strategic Stops for Ecomondo’s Global Reach

The Ecomondo international roadshow commences on July 8th in Cairo, Egypt. This event is being organized in close collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Egypt, the Italian Embassy, and the Italian Trade Agency Office. The agenda will prominently feature critical discussions around the water cycle, the integration of bioenergy in agriculture, effective waste management strategies, and advancements in energy efficiency. Egypt’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its defined National Climate Strategy 2050, which aims to achieve an impressive 42% of renewable energy production by 2035. The Cairo stop will include dedicated themed sessions and B2B meetings, facilitating direct interaction between Egyptian stakeholders and Italian companies actively involved in environmental sectors, encompassing both public and private entities. A testament to the strong interest from the region, the 2024 Egyptian delegation comprised 40 top buyers from diverse sectors including industries, utilities, municipalities, and ESCOs, leading to a remarkable 401 B2B meetings conducted during both Ecomondo and KEY – The Energy Transition Expo.

The roadshow then moves to Belgrade, Serbia, on September 9th. This leg of the tour is a collaborative effort with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with additional support from regional advisor MZ Consulting. The discussions in Belgrade will predominantly center on Waste Management, Solar Energy, and Water – all rapidly growing strategic areas within the Balkans. Investments in sustainability in this region are significantly bolstered by local incentives and crucial EU pre-accession programs, highlighting the immense potential for growth and collaboration.

Finally, the roadshow concludes in Warsaw, Poland, on September 11th, utilizing the innovative “Green Grill” format developed in partnership with Confindustria Poland. This event is designed as an informal, low-impact networking gathering, truly embodying the core values of both Ecomondo and KEY. The focus will be on key areas such as biogas, advanced plastic waste management, water treatment solutions, and solar energy technologies. The event will bring together Italian companies and Polish stakeholders, fostering discussions on concrete projects and the application of cutting-edge technologies. Poland is actively investing in modernizing its environmental infrastructure, leveraging substantial European funds and national plans. Confindustria Poland currently boasts 105 member companies, representing 30,000 employees and an aggregate turnover of 4.6 billion euros, underscoring the significant economic and industrial ties between Italy and Poland in the green sector.

A Glimpse into Ecomondo 2025: Key Themes and Innovation

The three international roadshow stops serve as an exciting preview of the comprehensive array of topics set to be explored at Ecomondo 2025. The November edition in Rimini will feature a high-tech exhibition and conference itinerary structured around seven pivotal macro-areas: Waste as Resource, Water Cycle & Blue Economy, Sites & Soil Restoration, Bioenergy & Agriculture, Earth Observation and Environmental Monitoring, Circular and Regenerative Bio-Economy, and the biennial SAL.VE, the ANFIA members’ expo dedicated to ecology sector vehicles.

Ecomondo 2025 will also reaffirm its commitment to specialized “vertical districts” that delve into specific sectors. These include the Blue Economy, dedicated to the vital safeguarding of marine ecosystems; the Circular Healthy City, focusing on the development of circular and healthy urban environments; the Paper District, showcasing sustainable design and production in the paper industry; the Textile District, promoting ethical and sustainable practices in fashion; and the Trenchless District, highlighting innovative No Dig technologies for underground infrastructure.

At the heart of applied research, the Innovation District will be a central hub, featuring an expanded area specifically for Start-Up & Scale-Up companies, along with a dedicated focus on Green Jobs & Skills development. The prestigious Lorenzo Cagnoni Award for Green Innovation will also make its return, recognizing and celebrating the most advanced technologies across the various sectors represented at the exhibition.

Complementing the exhibition, a comprehensive conference program, meticulously organized by the Technical Scientific Committee, will offer a deep dive into crucial topics. These include regulatory developments in environmental policy, strategies for ecosystem restoration, new forms of bioenergy, and predictive resource management. Special focuses will be placed on the Mattei Plan and the integral role of green technologies within the African context, fostering international collaboration and sustainable development.
