Ecomondo 2025: A Deep Dive into the Circular Economy
Rimini, Italy – From November 4th to 7th, 2025, the Rimini Expo Centre will host Ecomondo, a leading international event dedicated to the circular, green, and blue economies. Organized by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), Ecomondo brings together businesses, researchers, and institutions for a global dialogue on sustainable practices. The event spans a vast 166,000 m2 area, divided into seven thematic macro-areas, each focusing on a key aspect of the ecological transition. Beyond the extensive exhibition halls, the core of Ecomondo lies in its dynamic conference program, featuring over 100 high-level events designed to foster discussion and collaboration.
Key Conferences & Political Debate at Ecomondo 2025
The conference program, curated by Ecomondo’s Scientific Technical Committee (STC), chaired by Professor Fabio Fava, offers a deep dive into critical sustainability topics. A key highlight is the “States General of the Green Economy” on November 4th and 5th. This event, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) and the National Council of the Green Economy, serves as a central platform for political and industrial debate. It brings together companies, institutions, and policymakers to develop concrete proposals for decarbonization, sustainable resource management, and urban mobility within a framework of European competition.
Spotlighting Key Sectors of the Ecological Transition
Several conferences will focus on specific sectors crucial to the ecological transition. In the Sites and Soil Restoration area, the “States General for soil health” conference, organized by Ecomondo’s STC, the Re Soil Foundation, and the National Bioeconomy Coordination Board (NBCB), will explore the latest advancements in the bioeconomy. This event will provide an update on recent European policies, including the “Soil monitoring law” and the “Vision for Agriculture and Food,” and highlight the benefits of the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe”.
The Environmental Monitoring and Earth Observation sector will feature a conference on “Earth observation for sustainable critical raw materials management.” Organized with the Polytechnic of Turin, CINECA, and Spatial Agency, this session will showcase how satellite data and Earth Observation (EO) technologies are revolutionizing the monitoring and management of environmental impacts and supply chains for critical raw materials.
Addressing Resource Efficiency and the Water Cycle
The Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy areas will host a conference on “Technological solutions for resource recovery.” This event will examine innovative technologies that promote resource reusability and generate significant environmental benefits across various economic fields. In the Water Cycle and Blue Economy area, a two-session conference will delve into “European and Mediterranean nature-based, digital and cyber-physical initiatives projects to innovate water management.” Organized with the European Commission and several key institutions like UTILITALIA and IRSA-CNR, the conference will explore innovative projects with applications in water conservation, quality, distribution, and treatment, fostering cross-sector collaboration for resilient water management.
Focusing on Bioeconomy and Youth Empowerment
Lastly, the Circular and Regenerative Bioeconomy area will host the conference “What bioeconomy for the next generation?” Organized by Ecomondo’s STC and the Italian Circular Bioeconomy Cluster, this event will focus on the vital role of young people in the bioeconomy. It will address challenges such as access to decision-making power and skill development, presenting initiatives to create attractive employment and support youth entrepreneurship. Special attention will be paid to the Mediterranean and Africa, where the sustainable promotion of biological resources can boost food security and social stability. The event will also see the return of the Forum Africa Green Growth: International Cooperation and Partnerships with Mediterranean and Africa, further emphasizing Ecomondo’s global scope.
