Siemens Energy Rebrands as Omterra, Severing Ties with Siemens AG

German energy group Siemens Energy has unveiled a new global brand, Omterra, set to replace both Siemens Energy and its wind power subsidiary Siemens Gamesa. The move marks the final step toward full independence from former parent Siemens AG, six years after going public.

A Single Global Brand for Energy and Wind Operations

Siemens Energy announced on Monday that it will bring its operations and its wind-turbine subsidiary, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, together under one new brand: Omterra. The renaming process is set to begin later this calendar year and will be rolled out in phases, with the Omterra name gradually replacing Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa worldwide.

The company’s stock listing and legal structure will remain unchanged throughout the transition, Siemens Energy said.

A Name Years in the Making

The Omterra name had reportedly been in the works for several years. A ruling issued in March 2025 in a domain-name dispute case indicated that it was already publicly known as early as March 2022 that Siemens Energy intended to adopt Omterra as its global brand. The trademark was formally filed by Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG on 30 June 2026.

Cutting Brand Ties, Cutting Costs

The rebrand comes with direct financial benefits. According to Energate Messenger, Siemens Energy paid roughly €300 million to Siemens AG in brand and name licensing fees during its most recent fiscal year. Dropping the Siemens name is expected to eliminate that recurring charge, delivering an annual saving that should strengthen the company’s results going forward.

Part of a Broader Transformation Under Christian Bruch

The announcement comes as Siemens Energy pushes ahead with a wider transformation under CEO Christian Bruch, who has led the company since its creation and whose contract has been extended through April 2030. The group has also committed to investing $1 billion in its gas-turbine manufacturing capacity in the United States.

Completing a Five-Year Separation

Siemens Energy was spun off from Siemens AG in September 2020, with shareholders receiving one Siemens Energy share for every two Siemens shares held. Siemens AG has since trimmed its stake, but the licensing agreement kept a financial and brand link between the two companies. The rebrand to Omterra severs that last major tie — described by trade outlet Modern Power Systems as the next step in the company’s separation from Siemens AG, five years after its listing.

For MENA energy-transition stakeholders tracking Siemens Gamesa’s regional wind projects, the Omterra name will progressively appear across all future branding, communications and project documentation.
