Green Mobility Hall at WETEX 2024: A Showcase of Sustainable Transportation Solutions

Share

The Green Mobility Hall at the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2024 serves as a platform for showcasing innovative solutions in sustainable transportation. Leading companies from both local and international markets are participating in the event, presenting their latest advancements in mobility, transport, and green mobility logistics.

The hall highlights cutting-edge technologies designed to reduce operational and infrastructure costs associated with electric vehicles (EVs). It also focuses on improving energy and resource efficiency in the transport sector and promoting the use of hydrogen and low-emission or carbon-free fuels.

Organized by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), WETEX 2024 aims to support the National Electric Vehicles Policy, Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030, and the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy. By doing so, it reinforces the UAE’s position as a regional leader in EV adoption. The country boasts one of the highest ratios of charging stations to EVs worldwide.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Founder and Chairman of WETEX, emphasized the importance of WETEX in addressing the transport sector’s significant contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, 23% of net global GHG emissions originate from transportation. WETEX contributes to achieving national and global climate goals by promoting low-carbon transportation solutions.

Al Tayer also highlighted DEWA’s role in fostering green and sustainable mobility. The authority’s EV Green Charger initiative, launched in 2014, has been instrumental in establishing the region’s first public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. Dubai currently has over 700 advanced green charging stations, including around 400 operated by DEWA. This number is expected to grow in the coming years.
